Installing Microsoft Truetype fonts on Ubuntu
To install Microsoft Truetype fonts on Ubuntu, enter the following command in the terminal

sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts

If the package cannot be found, you may need to enable more repositories.

There are easier ways of installing fonts using a package called Automatix or Easy Ubuntu.

The two packages guide you through with a GUI.
It not only installs fonts, but it also install codecs, video drivers plus many other essential utilities, to help you set up Ubuntu quickly and easily.
